| The Art and Science of Natural Dyes This distance learning session is for students in grades 4-6. It is a collaborative program which combines the amazing resources of the Cleveland Botanical Garden and The Cleveland Museum of Art. Students learn the fundamental concepts between the terms organic and synthetic and put them into context by learning about raw materials while viewing textiles from around the globe. Vivid multimedia and classroom activities help explain the processes of extracting pigments to create dyes. Textile art from around the world and through history will provide a rich context for learning. Each student creates a personal wool and paper bookmark to keep. Materials for this project are supplied in a kit sent to your school. |
